President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly asked Mt Kenya region leaders to support Building Bridges Initiative report for the sake of peace and stability.
The head of state on Friday hosted over 4,000 leaders chosen from across the expansive region, a meeting that brought together rival groups.
Building Bridges Initiative team was constituted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga after the two agreed to work together.
Uhuru said that the leaders have the obligation to support the report, arguing that 'he knows what he's doing'.
The head of state asked those intending to oppose the report to do it honourably, without necessarily antagonising others.
"If we disagree, we should do it honourably with all opinions aired," he said.
Even before the release of the report, a section of Mt Kenya leaders has opposed the anticipated content, irking political temperatures in the region.
In most of his public speeches, Uhuru has maintained that he is keen to leave behind a united nation, adding that BBI report will fix some of the problems.
Friday's meeting was ostensibly called by Uhuru to prepare his Mt Kenya turf ahead of the expected launching of the report.
Security was high at Sagana State Lodge with participants blocked from accessing the venue with mobile phones among other items.
This is to ensure no proceedings of the meeting, whose agenda remains a highly guarded secret, are recorded.
National government administrators such as regional and county commissioners, sub-county commissioners and chiefs were not present in the meeting where journalists were been denied access.
Against earlier anticipation, Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region did not attend the meeting. It was the first time Uhuru was meeting the leaders in as many months.
