The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party secretary general Edwin Sifuna has said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will be extremely vigilant in the Kibra by-election.
Speaking on Wednesday in an interview on the 'Pointblank' program hosted by controversial host Tony Gachoka, Mr Sifuna said that, having learnt from the past, that the party would not allow the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to engage in any "shenanigans."
"As a party we have learned our lessons from previous elections. We will not allow any shenanigans from the electoral body, " the ODM secretary general said.
Edwin Sifuna appeared to suggest that the party did not have 100% confidence in the electoral body to conduct a free and fair by-election.
About 3 weeks ago, members of the ODM party held a meeting with the IEBC top brass in a bid to express their concerns about the prospect of the election results being doctored.
The IEBC has had a difficult history with the ODM party whose members have staged protests to remove key figures in the electoral body.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has assured all parties that have fronted candidates that the by-election will be conducted with the highest integrity and professionalism.
He opened the training for the by-election officials on Tuesday.
The Kibra by-election is slated for 7, November, 2019.
