There was drama on Saturday during a burial ceremony in Western Kenya when two senior politicians from the region engaged in a war of words.
It all started after former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who, while condoling the mourners, launched an attack on opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The Ford-Kenya deputy party leader said if the Luhya community was determined in rising to power, it was time to dump the ODM leader and join hands with Deputy President William Ruto who he observed was a frontrunner in the race to State House.
The remarks rubbed ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi the wrong way and when he rose to speak he did not have nice words for Khalwale.
Mudavadi, who is also eyeing the presidency during 2022 polls, told off the former lawmaker accusing him of 'selling' Luhyas to the wealthy Ruto.
"I have been politics long enough to be lectured on what to do. Some people are hungry for money and will follow it everywhere," Mudavadi said.
The leaders spoke during the burial of former Education Permanent Secretary George Godia at Givogi village in Vihiga County.
The function was also attended by Sports and Heritage CS Rashid Echesa, Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula, Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and more than six MPs from the region.
