Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Thursday, Kurui, a programs officer at the Centre Against Torture claims the intimidations and harassments are as a result of police officers who want him to withdraw an assault case he launched at the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) against Langas OCPD.

The activist claims he was assaulted by the OCPD Wilson Abduba on May 21, 2018, when he had visited the station to do a follow up on a criminal case of malicious damage and assault reported by a woman who wanted the organization's intervention as the police were taking long to act on the matter.

A medical report produced by Kurui and written by a medical officer at the Uasin Gishu county hospital indicates that the activist sustained injuries on the shoulder, ear and the back as a result of the assault.

The medical officer has since withdrawn his opinion on the medical report.

"I blame the OCPD for coercing the medical officer who filled the medical report to withdraw his opinion through an affidavit in order to frustrate the case at IPOA where I had also made an official complaint," the activist told the press.

Contacted for a response, the Langas OCPD said he could not comment on the matter as it was being investigated by IPOA, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He further said he will make an official complain to relevant authorities for the medical officer who filled the medical report together with the activist to be investigated for colluding to write unproven information in the P3 form without undertaking any medical tastes on the complainant as required by law.
