Emotions engulfed Magombo region on Friday during the burial of a student whose decomposing body was found on school compound on Monday.
The 16-year-old was a Form Three student at St Don Bosco Secondary School in Nyabiosi, Masaba North in Nyamira County.
Cliff Mayieka's decomposing body was found on Monday lying on a floor of a pit latrine within the school compound.
He went missing on May 20, 2019 and teachers did not report to either his parents or police until until the day when the body was retrieved.
The deceased was laid to rest despite the ongoing investigations by police officers from Keroka.
St Don Bosco Secondary School teachers snubbed the burial, something that left mourners in shock.
Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo had assured that detectives are on the ground probing the incident which left locals in shock.
"I wish to assure parents and members of the public that probe will be done speedily to establish whether the deceased was killed or he committed suicide since his hands were tied in the pit latrine," said Apondo.
