Speaking during the installation ceremony of Philip Anyolo as new Kisumu Catholic Archdioceses Archbishop at the Uzima University College Grounds in Kisumu, Ruto said that the government had already initiated several development projects in the region, with more still to come.

“We have completed the first phase of the Kisumu water and sanitation project which we completed last year for about Sh4 billion, we now have another programme for water and sewerage system expansion for Kisumu town which we are preparing the design and we will begin to roll out by the end of this year. We have committed another Sh9 billion for that exercise because Kisumu is an important city in our country,” he said.

He said that the government will put up a technical training institute in Kisumu East later this year, and Muhoroni and Nyando, later on, to empower youth with technical skills.

“Our aim is to ensure that unemployed youth get technical skills so that they can join us in the government’s big four agenda. This is aimed at ensuring that youth get an opportunity to work and women an opportunity for business in order to fight poverty,” he added.
