A 7-month pregnant woman was hacked to death by a co-wife over what is believed to be a family conflict.
The deceased woman who has since been identified as Mercy Cheyech was hacked with a panga on Monday morning, dying on the spot.
The incident which happened in Kibendo Village, Keiyo North constituency of the volatile Elgeyo-Marakwet County received widespread condemnation from locals who wanted to punish the killer to death for taking the life of the pregnant co-wife and her unborn baby.
Confirming the unfortunate incident, area police chief Mr Joseph Biwott said the co-wives picked an argument on the fateful Monday morning, before one of them attacked the deceased with a sharp panga.
It is further reported that their husband was out of the home when the two went for each other's blood.
According to eDaily, the suspect identified as Gorety Ayabei has already been arrested by police officers from Iten police station.
The slain woman's body was later moved to Iten County Referral Hospital mortuary.
