Opposition leader Raila Odinga has lauded the influence his post-election agreement (handshake) with President Uhuru Kenyatta is having across the African continent.
Speaking in Kakamega during the Western Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) popularization event at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County, Raila said his move has made him to be invited by some African states to strike such political deals.
The Saturday event was attend by most politicians supporting the the 'Handshake'.
"Handshake has been lauded by several states. Recently I was invited to Togo to help them have their 'handshake'. (Handshake imefurahisha nchi nyingi zaidi, juzi nimealikwa Togo niende nikawasaidie wao vile wanaweza kupata 'handshake na upinzani huko)," Raila said as tweeted by NTV.
The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development stated that BBI is unstoppable. He even said the current constitution has limitations that have made it impossible to transform the country.
"Nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come, and the time of #BBI has come. We want to transform Kenya because we have a new constitution but it’s still not working," Raila declared.
The popularization of BBI has received varied opinions with DP Ruto's camp opposing the move alleging is a waste of public money.
