In a statement after the meeting, she said that the core discussion between them was how the handshake and the recently launched Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will affect Kenyans.

“Had a meeting with Raila Odinga at Capital Hill Square earlier today.  We deliberated on the spirit of the handshake and it’s intention to move this nation to a better future through the BBI. A cohesive Nation and one in harmony can never go wrong,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

President Kenyatta launched the BBI report at the Bomas of Kenya on November 27, 2019, and urged Kenyans to avoid divisive politics.

During the launch, Uhuru and Raila urged Kenyans to read and debate the report saying the report will address issues affecting the country.

Waiguru's meeting with Raila has left speculations of their alliance before 2022. The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary has been hinting that she can back Raila for the top seat after President Uhuru Kenyatta leaves power.
