Kibera MP Ken Okoth has been lauded for his development initiatives.
Okoth who is serving his second term in office has been rated among the performing legislators in the country.
The ODM MP’s popularity in the city continues to rise even as 2022 succession politics starts to take shape.
Okoth succeeded former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as Kibra MP which was part of the large Langata constituency.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Okoth’s political future is very bright.
The analyst says that the ODM MP can easily fit into Odinga’s shoes as his successor.
“He is among youthful MPs who will have bigger say in the city politics in 2022,” Ngure said.
The analyst observes that Okoth is a silent political strategist who knows how to play the political cards.
A section of Kibera residents say that they are ready to support Okoth should he declare interest in any top seat in 2022.
Pius Mbaya, a bodaboda operator says that Okoth is a true leader who has the interests of the people at heart.
“He is a gentleman and simple leader who values development,” he said.
Jacky Muteshi, a resident in Kibera’s Highrise, says that Okoth has changed on how people perceive the constituency.
“We have seen people-centered development under Okoth watch,” she said.
There are claims that Okoth could contest for the Nairobi senate or governor seat in 2022.
The MP however says that he is focused on serving Kibera residents.
“We shall cross the bridge when time comes but for now my mind and focus is on serving Kibera constituents,” he said on Tuesday.
