Despite controversy surrounding ex-US President Barack Obama's tour to the country, more leaders have backed his two days presence in the country.
Initially, a number of leaders from Nyanza, notably former North Mugirango MP Charles Geni, had slummed Obama of 'denying' local leaders an opportunity to meet him.
But ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire has joined local leaders in praising Obama's presence and its positive economic significance in the region.
"He may have not met several local leaders which wasn't taken lightly but his presence alone buoyed businesses in the Lake region," he said.
Nyamira County Speaker Moffat Teya, who was behind calls to have Obama meet local leaders, said despite inability to meet them, his presence put Nyanza in the global map.
"When you read international papers, you will see Nyanza being mentioned and this even attracts investors. We are extremely happy for his presence."
Local leadership had earlier accused Auma Obama, the former president's sister, of allegedly being a stambling block to their quest.
