Mulyungi said Mutua should work and support Kalonzo instead of bidding for the top seat.

Speaking in Mwingi town on Saturday, the MP said Governor Mutua does not have numbers to contest for the presidency hence should back Kalonzo.

He stated that Kalonzo stands a better chance to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta than Mutua and other candidates in the race.

Mulyungi said Mutua will be spoiling for the former Vice President if he insists on vying for the presidency in 2022.

"Governor Alfred Mutua should support Kalonzo to increase Ukambani region's chances of ascending to power in 2022," Mulyungi said.

The Wiper MP said Kalonzo remains the best candidate to succeed Kenyatta in 2022.

He said they will lobby support for Kalonzo as the strongest presidential candidate.

Governor Mutua has, however, ruled out stepping down for Kalonzo or anyone else in the 2022 presidential race.

Mutua says his eyes are focused on the 2022 presidential bid and will not be lured to drop his presidential bid to anyone.

The Machakos  Governor, however, says he is ready to work with politicians who are ready to support his presidential bid.

Mutua is seeking the Presidential seat in 2022 on his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
