Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri has joined other leaders from Kisii County to mourn the death of athletics icon Nyantika Mayioro.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the senator said the deceased not only inspired people to run towards goals but, also to get focus no matter how late one can start to chase his or her believe.
"I join the world in celebrating a transition of a legend. Nyantika shall be remembered if his loyalty to the flag and preamble of our country but, more importantly, he is a man who taught us and the world many lessons for generations to come," the statement read part.
According to the senator, Mayioro's spirit and love to carry the mantle for the country in the Olympics is invaluable.
"Mzee never stopped there, he understood the importance of mentorship. While I was chair Athletics Kenya 1974-1984 we had a deep conversation with our fallen legend and I supported him so much in his quest for mentorship something as a district sports officer he did so well," noted Ongeri.
The vocal senator allied to opposition added that words can't be enough but, Mayioro is being celebrated for a well-lived life.
He said as a sign of remembered Mayioro, talents should be supported.
