Deputy President (DP) William Ruto has affirmed that he will continue donating for churches amid criticisms from the opposition.
Speaking in Machakos during a fundraiser in aid of the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Katisaa, Ruto said opposition leaders have no mandate to lecture him as far as God's work is concerned.
He said he gives because he is blessed and those asking him to stop are enemies of the church.
"We have read the Bible and we have understood what we are called to do, nobody should be forced to give to God. Someone should not give us lectures on what to do," he said as quoted by Standard.
Ruto also reminded leaders and the general public to back President Uhuru Kenyatta as he seeks to achieve the Big Four Agenda before he completes his second and final term in government.
Ruto has been on the spot for donating huge sums of money to churches. The opposition wants the DP questioned over the source of his wealth.
During the meeting, he was accompanied by several leaders including; Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Vincent Musyoka ( Mwala), George Sunkuyia (Kajiando West), Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Flabian Muli (Kangundo) and Moses Lesonet of Eldama Ravin.
