Sossion, also a nominated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP had earlier in the week postponed the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

However, NEC met anyway and proceeded to vote in favour of the removal of his name from the Registrar of Trade Unions, a move that he dismissed

The more than 30 top national officials, however, failed to present the new list of officials to the Registrar who was away in Mombasa, meaning that Sossion remains in-charge.

The sitting resolved to replace Sossion with Hesbone Otieno, only weeks after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) too removed Sossion's name from its registry.

“Once we get that document, we shall move to the bank to change signatories to include Mr Otieno. After that, we shall give direction on how affairs of the union shall be run,” one of the officials told the Standard.

But Sossion rubbished the entire procedure, terming it a failed coup attempt, threatening to sue those who participated in the exercise for contempt.

"You cannot change my signature at the bank unless you succeeded at the registrar’s office. And my signature cannot be changed without my authority,” he said.

Earlier, there was chaos outside the Knut offices as police lobbed teargas canisters to disperse teachers allied to Sossion who had camped out of the offices to protest against his woes.
