An US-based athlete has been put under detention over possible involvement in the murder of his wife, a school teacher in Kapseret.
The suspect was arrested following the death of his wife Gloria Sangutei, who was found murdered in a maize farm at Ancillary Outspan early Monday morning.
The body of the Nigeria Girls Secondary School teacher was found by people who were going to work. The police also found a rope suspected to have been used to strangle her near the body.
Confirming the arrest, Kapseret sub-county commander Francis Warui said that the police became suspicious after he gave varying reports about the same at two police stations.
“The suspect showed up at the Kiambaa Police Post and said he wanted to confirm if it was his wife who was found murdered at a farm in Ancilla, Outspan. But he gave contradicting information when questioned by police in Langas,” he said.
The police boss said that a probe has been launched into the same, adding that the suspect will be released should the police confirm that he was not part of the murder.
"We will interrogate him about his whereabouts concerning the nature of the events that took place. If we find no links to him, he will be released," he added.
