Deputy President William Ruto has yet again been subjected to fierce criticism as he seeks to stamp authority in his Rift Valley backyard.
For months now, Dr Ruto has struggled to silence critics from the region, with Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny leading onslaught against him.
Also in the team includes Moiben MP Silas Tiren, Nandi Hills legislator Alfred Keter and Tiaty MP William Kamket, a close ally of Gideon Moi.
And in an interview with the Sunday Nation, Mr Kutuny accused Dr Ruto of letting down the Kalenjin community, despite the overwhelming support he received from the region.
“What is emerging is that the DP has failed the Kalenjin community and is only interested in the presidency but there many leaders who can give him a run for his money in the presidential succession politics,” Mr Kutuny said.
The plight of maize farmers have often guided Kutuny's criticism. He accused the DP of doing little to improve the welfare of farmers from the region.
Also, Kutuny has often accused Ruto of being behind Mau forest evictions predicament, arguing that he has rarely addressed the matter despite being in government.
But Keiyo South MP Daniel Rono accused Kutuny of disrespecting the DP, arguing that he should differ without necessarily frustrating Dr Ruto.
“It very wrong for him (Mr Kutuny) to behave that way. He may have a divergent opinion but let him respect our leader,” said Mr Rono.
