Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula have fronted candidates who will face off with ODM boss Raila Odinga's aspirant.

But speaking on Saturday, ODM chairman in Nairobi county George Aladwa accused the two leaders of fielding candidates with the aim of wrestling and attempting to frustrate Raila.

"They want to compete with Raila, they are trying to humiliate him (Hawa wanataka kushindana na Raila, eti wanataka kumuaibisha)," he said on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show.

The two have banked their hopes on Eliud Owalo and Khamisi Butichi respectively, against ODM's Imran Okoth and 21 other aspirants, among them Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga.

However, he warned that the group is set for a terrible failure, saying that no politician can dare challenge Raila in Kenya and survive.

Therefore, he predicted an embarrassment for the two, in a race that has, however, been skipped by fellow NASA leader Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM).

"You can't challenge Raila, he will embarrass you. Raila controls a huge population. Tell these people to even fill Makongeni Grounds with people, they can't (Huwezi shindana na Raila, atakuaibisha, Raila ni mtu ana watu wengi sana. Ambia hawa wanapiga kelele wajaze hii uwanja ya Makongeni peke yake uone kama wataweza)," he added.

The split in NASA comes a year and eight months after Raila, the top principal, reconciled with President Uhuru Kenyatta, a truce the three claimed they were left in the dark on.

Trouble began on January 30, 2018, after they were subjected to bashing and mockery after snubbing Raila's mock presidential inauguration at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

Kalonzo has since thrown his weight behind Butichi.
