In an interview on NTV’s AM Live show on Monday, Mwaura said that the MCAs have good reasons to push for the ouster of the county boss after he was implicated in a Sh588 million corruption scandal.

The senator argued that Waititu has proven that he is difficult to handle, adding that impeachment could be the way to go. The legislator said that the MCAs are the protectors of the interest of the general public and they have entrusted their lives in the governor.

“There are some MCAs who are trying to impeach him (Waititu). I wish them well,” he said.

He also claimed that Waititu is among the politicians who were not cleared to contest for the governorship and other posts during the last general elections.

Mwaura further claimed that the governor was among those declared unfit for office by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He further questioned how Waititu made it to the county’s top leadership when he had no qualifications for the same.

“In the last election the same Waititu we are talking about here was among the list of people who were not be cleared by IEBC,” he said.

He backed the idea of Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro taking over the post in an acting capacity.
