Former Kibwezi West MP Kalembe Ndile now wants opposition leader Raila Odinga to quit active politics after being appointed as African Union (AU) High Representative in charge of Infrastructure.
Ndile argues that Raila should get contented with the new appointment and leave politics to other people.
The former MP says it will be double standards for Raila to be serving as AU envoy and at the same time politicking.
“Such appointment needs commitment, the former Prime Minister should concentrate on it,” Ndile said.
Ndile addressed the press at Mlolongo town in Machakos County on Wednesday.
According to Ndile, Raila does not have political muscles to continue engaging in politics.
“Raila should take up the job, settle down and forget about politics,” Ndile added.
Ndile claimed that the former Prime Minister no longer has numbers to contest in any presidential election.
He said the country needs fresh political blood.
“It is time for Raila, Kalonzo Musyoka and others to hang up their political boots,” he said.
Ndile, however, congratulated Raila for the AU appointment, saying he deserves it.
Raila’s appointment was confirmed last week by AU chair Moussa Faki.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti, Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi, and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu are among Kamba politicians who have congratulated Raila for his appointment.
