Veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga has sent a message to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji in the wake of the prosecution of Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu.
Speaking from Germany to the Voice of America on Thursday through a phone call, Mr Odinga called on the DPP to ensure that the arrests of corrupt people are on the basis of strong evidence to avoid perceptions that the investigations are part of a political witch hunt.
"We are saying that we want those involved in the investigations into corruption and arresting people to ensure that they have enough evidence that will satisfy the public that the person is not being persecuted. Those doing the investigations should be doing them very well so that there is enough evidence," Odinga said.
Odinga's words came in the wake of continuing arrests of high profile individuals alleged to have engaged in corruption.
He said that he would support Haji's war on corruption provided it is done properly and waged with enough evidence.
His words were in contrast to what some ODM members have said regarding the arrest of DCJ Mwilu over corruption.
Haji has been leading the anti-corruption charge that has seen influential individuals nabbed.
