Speaking in a sensitization meeting organized by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the riders’ leaders recently, Nyanza South region’s deputy director Mr Arthur Opili said that the transport group leads in bribing the traffic officers whenever they are found outside the laws.

“The reason why we have held this meeting is to talk to the leaders of these riders who we have identified as the leading transport sector which is fond of giving out bribes to officers whenever they are found to be on the wrong side of the law. We want them to know that it’s illegal to give out bribes as it spreads corruption," said Arthur.

Arthur urged the operators to stop abetting the vice and report any incident to the authorities so as to end corruption menace which is eating up Kenya’s economic growth.

“We want the riders to stop this habit and always be ready to face the law because some of the offenses they bribe for, one can be freed free of charge from the courts if presented,"he added.

In the month of September last year, there was no single corruption case reported at Nyamira’s Huduma centre.

“Though bribery incidences are rampant in Nyamira, no single one was reported in the month of September 2018. I urge our people to always report any corruption case so as we can make a follow up if this war must be won, we should always work together," he noted.
