According to Maangi, if all bodaboda operators comply with the rules, cases of road accidents will greatly reduce in the region.

"As bodaboda leaders, you need to ensure riders have all the qualifications before venturing into the business as this will help the industry grow," he stated.

He further assured the transport stakeholders that the Kisii County Government will offer the necessary support to ensure the bodaboda industry which has created employment for youths grows.

"The county government of Kisii is ready anytime to engage with bodaboda riders for the sake of growing the sector. All we want is youths to have jobs so that they can be able to put food on the table," said Maangi.

Speaking when he met with the Gucha bodaboda operators' leadership on Friday, Maangi appealed to the leaders to be on high alert to curb any cases of criminals masquerading as bodaboda operators with the intention of stealing from passengers.

The deputy governor also challenged the bodaboda leadership not to accept to be used by local politicians who are out to seek political mileage.
