In an interview with kenyans.co.ke, the MD admitted that he was treated to a shock when he first saw the news doing rounds on social media.

He further dismissed the report and said that he ordered an improved packaging of news and not the ban of BBI discussions.

"Some things can be taken out of context. There is nothing like that ordered at KBC. All I wanted was for editors to come together and chat the way for content. I did not ban BBI on our programmes, we are still covering the reports," Bilal said.

The editor-in-chief at KBC Samuel Maina, confirmed that the reports were fake since he had not been informed about the ban. He said that they are determined to cover the BBI meeting scheduled to be hosted in Kisii.

"You can't believe everything you see on the internet. I have not received such an order and in fact, I have some reporters on assignment in Kisii covering the event," stated Maina.

The fake reports had indicated that MD Bilal ordered Evans Makori of Minto FM which is under KBC not to host a BBI debate with Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.

It further alleged that the same message was passed across the board.
