Former BBC Africa Business Editor Larry Madowo has been on the receiving end from a section of United States citizens following his controversial tweet about the recent shootings in the country.
Ladowo who is currently in the US had suggested that the country that is hosting him, for now, was not safe.
This follows two shootings reported in El Paso and Dayton on Monday.
"I went to sleep on news of a mass shooting in El Paso. I woke up to news of a mass shooting in Dayton. This is only my first weekend living in these United States!" the former NTV news anchor tweeted.
The tweet, however, did not go down well with some of the American citizens who asked him to move out of the country if he did not like it.
One Twitter user John Siebert wrote: "Hey, you don't like it here you can leave."
"You are a newcomer to America and you publicly say America is not safe despite the hell hole you are from! Get lost moron! Go Home," Siebert added.
Madowo who recently left BBC had earlier published an opinion piece on BBC Africa titled “Africa is doing just fine. It’s the coverage by Western media that is behind the times.”
With the Journalist receiving harsh responses for the questioning of his safety in the US, a section of Kenyans on Twitter has as well expressed mixed reactions.
