Gor Mahia Coach, Hassan Oktay has resigned from the position.
The unexpected resignation came after he asked for leave to go back to Turkey to see his ailing parents as well as attend some urgent matters.
The club handed him a six-days leave before he came and announced that he was quitting. The Turkish-born coach had asked the management of the club to accept his resignation as he embarks on the next stage of life without the players.
He said that he has decided to leave the Kenya Premier League side because of the endless challenges that have affected his performance in one way or another.
Oktay also took his time to thank the club for the support he was accorded during his days at the club before he thought of leaving. He made his intention to quit through a letter addressed to the club chairman Ambrose Rachier.
“Kindly accept my resignation as Gor Mahia FC head coach effective today, the sixth day of August 2019. As you are aware, the decision has been forced on me by the personal challenges I am facing here in Europe," said Oktay, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo is likely to take over the Coaching role following the new move.
