ODM leader Raila Odinga's eldest daughter; Rosemary Odinga, has narrated how she used to recognise her father when she was blind.
Ms Odinga, 42, lost her eyesight in 2017, after undergoing a brain tumour surgery, causing panic among family members.
Reports on the Standard indicate that Rosemary recognised her father through his familiar walking steps once at the door.
Observing that it was never easy, Ms Odinga said for other people, she tried to know their identity through behaviour.
“I would sit alone and recognised people through their behaviours. It wasn’t easy but I thank God for the miracle,” she said.
She added: “When I heard tap! tap! on the door, I knew that was my dad. When I said how are you dad, he would think that I was seeing him.”
Rosemary is the eldest child of the veteran opposition chief, and is considered by most people as heir apparent of the Odingas.
Addressing a gathering during Christmas celebrations, Odinga also observed how it was painful to see his daughter struggle with the condition which has since healed.
“It was painful to see my daughter go into a coma for more than one week and the many trips we made in and out of hospitals,” said Raila.
Throughout the recovery process, Rosemary stayed at her father's Nyali home in Mombasa.
