A 13-year-old boy has been arrested by police in Njoro, Nakuru County, for allegedly sexually assaulting a one and half years-old baby.
Residents at Mau Narok area were shocked over the incident after the boy was caught in the act committing the heinous act.
Njoro Sub County Police Commander Mohammed Huka who confirmed the incident said the suspect has been arrested and he is being held in police custody.
The police arrived at the scene and rescued the suspect before an angry mob who were baying for his blood lynched him.
“We have arrested the suspect and has been in police custody since Friday. He will be charged before the children court on Monday,” said Huka said.
Nakuru Level Five Hospital medical superintendent Dr Joseph Mburu said the baby (victim) is in stable condition after receiving treatment.
“The minor has undergone surgery and she is in stable condition,” said Dr Mburu.
Dr Mburu further revealed that they are treating another seven-year-old girl who was rushed to the facility after being defiled in Gilgil sub-county.
A neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity said the baby was left under the care of the boy when the mother was away.
“The boy took advantage of the mother’s absence to commit the heinous act. He was caught on the act by passers-by, who rescued the child,” said the neighbour.
