After an uncharacteristic political silence since his appointment as Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018, former Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has resurfaced.
While speaking when he hosted Deputy President William Ruto in Budalang'i on Sunday during Isambo Festival, Namwamba assured the DP of his support in his State House bid come 2022.
"We are your people. We are very prepared. And we are very strong, ready to support you to the end. We started this journey with you in 2017, albeit late. But this time, we assure you that we are going to break barriers here and we are going to deliver it for you," said the former ODM party Secretary-General as the crowd cheered.
Namwamba, a former loyalist of ODM leader Raila Odinga broke the ranks with the orange party in 2016 before joining Labour Party, where he energized the party long associated with former MP Prof Julia Ojiambo.
In 2017, he decided to throw his weight behind the Jubilee pair of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto.
His political support would later be repaid when President Kenyatta appointed him to deputise Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr Monica Juma as one of the country's top diplomat.
With 2022 election fast approaching, Namwamba seems to have just made political statement.
