South Africans and the world on Wednesday celebrated what would have been the 100th birthday of world peace icon Nelson Mandela.

Award-winning journalist and author Jeff Koinange took time to write an inspirational message that he later posted on his social media account.

Koinange joined the world and other international leaders in honouring the Centenary celebration of the late Tata Madiba as many in his country referred to him.

“Happy Birthday to one of History’s GIANTS! Madiba, you would have turned 100 Years old today!! Your Legacy will LIVE on for the next 100 Years!! Viva Nelson Mandela, VIVA!! AMANDLA!!! #HappyBirthdayMadiba #RipMadiba,” said Jeff.

The Citizen TV presenter further revealed that eleven years ago, he introduced his son, Mbiyu Koinange to Mandela and it felt like his son knew he was in the presence of a great man.

“Eleven Years ago when I first introduced my son, Mbiyu to Madiba, it's like he KNEW he was in the Presence of GREATNESS!! Viva Nelson Mandela, VIVA!! #HappyBirthdayMadiba #Madiba100 cc @richardbranson @NelsonMandela,” said Jeff.
