Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga on Thursday shrugged off his busy schedule to visit NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya at Nairobi Hospital.
While it could not be immediately established what Magaya is ailing from, it's however understood that he has been at HDU for the last one week.
The ODM party, in a short statement on Thursday said: "H.E. Raila Odinga visits Norman Magaya at Nairobi Hospital’s HDU and wishes him well and quick recovery.
Mr Magaya, a lawyer by profession, is credited for running Mr Odinga's 2017 elections. His tough stand against Jubilee party saw him losing nominations to East Africa Legislative Assembly but would be rewarded later in KFCB as a board member.
Last year, Raila defended Magaya from claims by self proclaimed NRM general Miguna Miguna that he was working for Jubilee party in NASA. Mr Odinga dismissed the assertions.
“My attention has been drawn to reports in sections of the media attributed to Miguna Miguna claiming two of the NASA secretariat staff, namely Dr David Ndii and Norman Magaya, are working for Jubilee Party,” Raila said.
He urged his supporters to ignore the sentiments and focus on the issues NASA had set out to address. “We wish to make it clear that as a coalition, we have full confidence in Dr Ndii and Magaya, who have dedicated time and resources working for NASA’s cause. The allegations against the two, if at all they were made, are very unfortunate and detrimental to the cause we are pursuing,” Raila said.
In his defense, Magaya, who has often clashed with Jubilee party members before the famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, dismissed the allegations, terming them baseless.
“NASA supporters know who I am. They know what I stand for. They know my principles. They have been with me for eight years. They know it all. I don’t need to justify anything,” he said.
