Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has dismissed claims that he is corrupt.
In a Facebook post, Mutua on Sunday reiterated that he is not being investigated by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) over graft allegations.
The county boss said that he is clean after the commission cleared his name from the records of suspected graft lords.
He also said that those spreading the rumours that he is under probe are ill-driven and ill-motivated.
"I have seen a smear campaign meant to divert attention from my development focus & tough stance against graft, by painting me as corrupt. I am not under any investigation by EACC. DPP Noordin Haji withdrew trumped-up allegations against me awhile back. I was cleared. I am clean," he posted.
He insisted that he will not be distracted from delivering his promises to the residents of Machakos.
On September, 30, Mutua denied claims that the Senate had issued a warrant of arrest against him.
There were reports that he had refused to appear before the Senate Committee on Public Accounts and Investment to answer to audit queries.
The governor has insisted that his hard-line stance is the cause of his woes.
