Blogger Robert Alai has asked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to ask its Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to keep off the Kibra by-election. In a tweet, Alai said that Sifuna is the only official at his capacity who is paid Sh.250, 000 per month.

He noted that Sifuna is likely to interfere with the outcome of the election if he is actively involved in the same. Alai asked the party to front other persons to lead the campaign and not Sifuna because people lack faith in him.

“Edwin Sifuna was a family lawyer of the Okoths. Would have been fair if he stayed away from the ODM candidate nomination for Kibra by-election. Remember that Edwin Sifuna is the only political party Secretary General who is paid a salary. Gets paid Ksh 250,000 per month,” he tweeted.

ODM has nominated Imran Okoth to contest for the position following the demise of his late brother Ken Okoth. Imran is expected to lock horns with Jubilee’s MacDonald Mariga and other candidates from the rest of the parties.

The candidates in the race have exuded confidence that they will emerge victorious at the end of the day. They have also urged their supporters to remain calm during the exercise.
