This is according to Machakos Police Commander Farah Maalim.

On Monday Maalim confirmed that the 20 will be transferred from Athi River and Mlolongo Police Stations.

He noted that those to be transferred are from the administration police unit, regular police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

According to Maalim, the officers have served for more than three years in these stations.

"We are in the process of transferring officers who have overstayed in a bid to see if we will get changes. Those to be transferred are more than 20 from Mlolongo and Athi River Police Station," said Maalim.

This comes just a few days after irate Mlolongo residents demonstrated closing Nairobi-Mombasa highway complaining of increased insecurity.

The demonstration was instigated by the death of two people who were shot dead on Thursday night and two others were injured at an M-Pesa shop.

Earlier, area MP Patrick Makau had requested for the transfer of rogue and lazy police officers from the area.

Athi River Deputy County Commissioner David Juma held a security meeting that brought together security agents, residents and the MP.
