Raila Odinga Junior now claims Deputy President (DP) William Ruto tried to entice him to join government with a high position.
Raila Junior, who is the youngest son of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, alleged that Ruto offered him a job together with his elder sister, Winnie Odinga.
In a tweet on Wednesday, he said they both declined the offer which was made to them through an unnamed "senior Ambassador".
He claimed that Ruto’s motive was to cause division in Raila's family.
This happened during the month their father was sworn-in as the people's president by exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna.
The former Prime Minister took the controversial oath at Uhuru Park on January 30, 2018.
"The truth is that in January 2018 Arap Mashamba tried to entice Winnie Odinga and I with high level government positions, a kind of divide and rule tactic using a very senior Ambasador to put pressure but obviously we told him to F off and talk to the source," Raila Junior posted.
Arap Mashamba is a name used by critics to mock DP Ruto.
He was reacting to the DP's remarks that the ODM boss approached him for a political pact before his March 9, 2018 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In an exclusive interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Ruto claimed he told off Raila since he had not involved Uhuru in the conversation.
"Before Raila Odinga engaged the President on the ‘handshake’, he engaged me, 4 times, but I declined. All engagements within Jubilee have to start with the President," he said.
The remarks were, however, rubbished by ODM spokesperson Philip Etale.
