Kenyans on Wednesday morning woke up to celebrate police officers who did a commendable job at the Dusit2D hotel after it came under attack.

Cops, as well as civilians who are licensed gun holders,   saved tens of Kenyans who had been held hostage at the hotel-complex after gunmen stormed the premise.

A man of light complexion was splashed in front pages of at least three newspapers.

His courage in rescuing survivors was like a story in Hollywood movies.

In one of the photos in Kenya’s Daily Nation, the man, identified as Inayat Kassam, is captured in a fine shot shielding a shaken woman from the attackers as he leads her to safety.

In another photo, a Recce Squad officer melts the hearts of Kenyans as he leads tens of survivors out of danger.

His hawk-eyed pose, eyes on the source of the snipers’ bullets, sees him able to help the civilians duck the bullets and crawl to safety.

Another photo of an officer in slippers is also trending on social media.

Like it is the case with emergencies, there is no time for polishing up.

The daring cop rushed to the scene wearing slippers.

“We need this kind of boys,” one social media user captioned this photo:

In his slippers, the officer clutched on his gun and engaged the attackers.

And who can forget Omar Muchiri, a civilian who rescued many survivors as he ducked bullets? When he was rescued by Recce, one sniper was raining bullets at the place he had taken cover.

"We see it in movies, but it was real. Hats off to our officers," he told Citizen TV.

By 1pm Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta had called a press briefing where he lauded all security officers for a job well done.

From this writer, I say bravo to all our cops!
