The gang has been terrorizing Migori residents for some time now.  Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot urged Matiang’i and Kinoti to wipe out the notorious Sangwenya group before it spiralled to a sect.   “ I'm urging Honourable Matiang’i to investigate and find out who these Sangwenya that are harassing leaders and beating up locals are for speedy action,” Senator Cheruiyot said. Cheruiyot said Kenyans have freedom of expression and that leaders and residents of Migori County are free to give dissenting opinions without being threatened or intimidated. The Jubilee Party Senator added that all Kenyans are in the country by right and have all the rights to access government services without being forced to align to another person’s demands. The Senator said It was shameful that a leader could not stand to speak about matters that are  affecting his people in the County. He promised to table the issue in parliament saying it was getting out of control. “When the parliament resumes, I’ll take up this issue with your senator (Ochillo Ayacko) and if he does not bring it to the floor of the house then I’ll do it myself for the benefit of  Migori residents,” Cheruiyot said. Kuria East Member of Parliament Kitayama Marwa accused the Sangwenya group of crippling operations at the County Assembly as MCA's are forced to toe to their line before making crucial legislation.  He wondered why no action had been taken against the group despite the Sangwenya storming into Migori County Assembly premises severally and attacking MCA’s. “How is it that Sangwenya has attacked the County Assembly of Migori close to six times and we have a County Commander of Police who has said nothing,” Hon. Kitayama said. He added: "Operations at the County government cannot be done without consulting this group and I'm made to understand that even some ministers must seek approval of the group before implementing crucial projects." The MP wondered whether the government was not seeing the impending danger Migori would have at the end of the regime of the current government. “Will these Sangwenya not ‘eat out’ Migori residents when the current leadership that is sponsoring them leaves office and they have no source of income?” Kitayama posed. He said just like Mungiki in Nairobi and Central regions, Sangwenya was being tolerated and had become fashionable but warned it could soon get out of hand and wreck havoc to Migori residents. The leaders were speaking in Kuria East during the burial of the mother of the area MP.  #Hivisasaoriginal
