Eldas MP Adan Keynan has criticised the Supreme Court's ruling that gave school administrators the discretion to make their own rules on dress codes in relation to  hijabs.Keynan says the ruling by the apex court is ill-advised and infringes on the rights of Muslim women.According to the MP, the ruling goes against the religious practice of Islam.“The Chief Justice should review the ruling and protect the religious rights of Muslim women especially school  girls,” he said on Monday when he inspected development projects in Eldas constituency.The MP said that the rights of Muslims are enshrined in the constitution and ought to be respected.

He asked Muslim leaders to protest against the ruling in order to protect the rights of Muslim women.

The ruling on hijabs continues to elicit reactions among Muslim leaders.Garissa Township MP Aden Duale is among leaders who have faulted the ruling.

Wajir Women representative Fatuma Gedi, Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor and Isiolo Women Rep Rehema Dida have also condemned the decision by the apex court.

The apex court gave schools the discretion to decide on their own the dress code, meaning that they will decide on whether to allow hijabs or not.
