Starlets beat the Ethiopian national team 2-0 on Sunday in their first game of the regional tournament.

The two goals were scored by Jentrix Shikangwa and Cythia Musungu.

Both goals came in the second half with Jentrix Shikangwa finding the back of the net in the 79th minute.

Musungu strengthened Kenya's lead in the 82nd minute taking the fixture beyond the misfiring Ethiopians, who appeared completely overpowered by the Kenyan side.

The impeccable performance came just days after the Harambee Starlets lost to the Copper Queens of Zambia in a 2020 Olympics qualification tie.

The Copper Queens beat the Starlets 1-0 in Lusaka after a 1-1 draw in Nairobi.

Nothing but victory in the games will count as consolation to football loving Kenyans for the brutal removal of the Starlets from the Olympics qualifiers.

The victory came less than 24 hours before the Kenyan men's national team take on the Sparrowhawks at the Kasarani International Stadium on Monday in an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The Harambee Stars pulled off an impeccable performance in Alexandria last week after holding the Pharaohs of Egypt to a 1-1 draw.
