The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party is set to take part in a number of exercises as it seeks to strengthen itself ahead of the much awaited 2022 general polls.
According to party secretary-general Edwin Sifuna, the Orange party will conduct a national recruitment exercise that will end on December 31.
In a statement after the conclusion of a two-day National Executive Council (NEC) retreat in Nakuru county on Friday, Sifuna also announced plans to rectify the party's election system that has for a long time made nominations a nightmare.
He said that the NEC, led by party leader Raila Odinga, has resolved to use four options when handling the party's nominations.
"On party primaries, we resolved that the party shall employ universal suffrage, electoral colleges, consensus and direct tickets backed by a scientific process, as the four ways of identifying candidates at each election,” said Sifuna as quoted by the Standard.
The former Nairobi senatorial aspirant also announced plans to reconstitute the NEC, the disciplinary committee and the National Elections Board.
He said that the NEC also agreed to work extra hard to channel more monies into the party, adding that all the names of elected MPs and MCAs will have to go through NEC for rectification henceforth.
Also in the offing are party grassroots elections.
