Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge continues to receive plaudits from all corners of the world after his breathtaking feat at the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, Austria on Saturday morning.
The Olympics champion ran for 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds to become the first man to ever run a 42-kilometre marathon race under two hours.
After the feat, national soccer team Harambee Stars players Victor Wanyama and Michael Olunga took to social media to applaud Kipchoge.
“Congratulation Eliud Kipchoge, indeed no human is limited,” said the Harambee Stars Captain who plies his trade with English side Tottenham Hotspur.
On his part, Olunga who plays for Kashiwa Reysol in Japan said there’s no doubt that Kipchoge is a legend.
“Congratulations Legend. God bless you more,” said Olunga.
The INEOS 1:59 Challenge was Kipchoge’s 14th marathon since he took up the long-distance race in 2013. He has finished second only once, during the 2013 Berlin Marathon.
Last year, his run of 2 hours, 1 minute and 39 seconds during the Berlin Marathon broke the world record. His latest run of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds will be recognised by the Guinness Book of World records, but not the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
