Political analyst Herman Manyora has weighed in on Deputy President William Ruto's claims that his life is in danger and some top State officials are plotting his assassination.
Ruto on Monday reached out to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti alleging that four cabinet secretaries have been meeting to plot his assassination.
Manyora noted that cases of politicians' assassinations are not new in Kenya but questioned reports that over 30 people attended a meeting where the plot was reportedly discussed.
This follows revelations by Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, one of the CSs linked to the alleged plot, that their latest meeting at Hotel La Mada was attended by over 40 people.
According to Manyora, it would be almost impossible to plan such a sensitive matter in such a huge meeting, thus making the claims questionable.
"If it were true that somebody wanted to assassinate him (Ruto), the question that comes to mind would be; would a collection of about 30 to 40 individuals meet somewhere to plan somebody's assassination? It is most unlikely," he said.
The analyst made the remarks on his Take It or Leave It YouTube analysis channel.
This comes at a time when the four CSs led by Munya have been attempting to fight off the claims.
Others linked to the alleged plot are Sicily Kariuki (Health), James Macharia (Transport), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and a host of principal secretaries and parastatal bosses from Mt Kenya region.
Three of the CSs on Monday presented themselves to the DCI headquarters though the DP is yet to record a statement over the same.
