Four popular clubs at Kilimani area in Nairobi, KIZA, B-Club, Space Lounge and Explorers Tavern, are set to be closed after Nairobi County Government was given an order to revoke their permits and liquor licenses.
Giving the order, the Environment and Land Court noted that the four clubs violate the rights and freedom of the Kilimani residents.
“A mandatory injunction is hereby issued against the 8th respondent (Nairobi County) compelling it to revoke all liquor licenses issued to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents,” reads part of the judgement as quoted by Citizen Digital.
This comes after Kilimani residents took to the court seeking an order to close the four clubs.
The residents had noted that the clubs hinder them their right of a clean and healthy environment as they play loud music, noisy drunk reliever and also that the clubs have become a bad influence to the youths.
“Some of other negative effects from the said establishments release noise, littering by patrons, obstruction of motor vehicles by patrons, exposure to immoral and indecent behavior by the patrons inside their vehicles, property prices being driven down as a result of all those activities and loss of income by some residents,” reads the applications submitted by Kilimani residents as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Various clubs around the city have been closed due to complains from residents.
