Prominent lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has dissected implications of simmering differences between Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
The war of words between the two political bigwigs has escalated since Raila entered into a peace deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta and pledged to help him end runaway corruption in the country.
Ruto accuses the former Prime Minister of hiding behind the 'handshake' and war on graft to scuttle his 2022 presidential bid.
But this week, the political battle took a new twist after the DP claimed he declined to have a political pact with Raila despite the ODM leader approaching him four times.
In a TV interview on Tuesday, Ruto seemed to suggest that Raila resulted in having a truce with Uhuru after he turned him down.
However, ODM has denied the allegations, pointing out that it was the DP who approached its party leader with a request for help to 'tame Uhuru and his people'.
Referring to him as a 'pathological liar', ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna claimed Ruto’s plan was to blackmail and render the Head of State powerless but Raila told him off.
Commenting on the political developments, senior counsel Abdullahi said Raila has managed to take the war to the heart of the ruling party and observed he has already recorded a number of 'scores'.
In a tweet on Thursday, he noted that Jubilee was at risk of collapsing should it fail to neutralise the hard-knocking Raila and his ODM brigade.
"In the war between ODM and DP Ruto over Jubilee, the battleground is in Jubilee's home...ODM has stormed the fortress...cleared a number of barriers and are engaged in hand to hand combat...Will the fortress fall or will Raila's brigade be repulsed?" Abdullahi posed.
President Uhuru is yet to comment or try to quell the escalating war of words between his principal assistant and new 'partner'.
