Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has received a rare backing in his 2022 presidential bid.
Joho who seeks to battle it out with Deputy President William Ruto and other aspirants, received backing from Kanu's William Kamket, Tiaty MP.
The lawmaker said Joho was fit to lead the country provided he works together with Kanu chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Samburu where Joho was leading a fundraiser, Kamket said: "Wewe (Joho) unafaa kuwa rais wa jamhuri ya Kenya. Unatosha ndugu yangu... unafaa ushikane na Mheshimiwa Gideon Moi na Raila Odinga kwa sababu tunajua serikali iko hapo."
Hosted by Jubilee Party's Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, the ODM deputy party leader led a fundraiser to help build Alsalam Mosque.
Joho pledged to work together with Moi, to block William Ruto from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
