Uasin Gishu County Assembly on Friday approved a new County public Service Board member nominated by Governor Jackson Mandago.

This was after vetting by the committee of Appointment and Public Service Management. 

According to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly chair Pius Kigen, the Committee of Appointment and Public Service Management who moved the motion for the adoption of the report, all the nominees are suitable for their various positions," he said.

“Hon speaker I wish to move a motion that this County Assembly adopts the Committee of Appointment and Public Service Management on the vetting of County public Service Board members since after looking at their CV’S they qualify, “Kigen said.

"The nominees who represented themselves for vetting the committee found them to have met the required qualifications. We found all the nominees suitable to undertake their positions and urge the house approve nominees without amendments,” Kigen added.

The Leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi supported the motion saying that a County Public Service Board plays a key role and needs to be in place as first as possible.

Deputy Speaker Hosea Korir presided over the session where the motion was passed without any amendments.

The nominees include Walter Keya from Jua Kali Uasin Gishu Association, Geoffrey Kirui from Uasin Gishu Urban Forum, Winny Chelagat Maru (Kenya Private Sector Association), Richard Omunyala (Kenya Alliance of Residents Association) and Dr Job Kipkurgat Ngetich (Association of Professional Societies in East Africa).

Others include Evelyn Chesang Mitei, Julius Kitur, Peter Mwaniki Mwangi and Beatrice Githui.
