Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has weighed in on the arrest of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge over the Kimwarer and Aror dams scandal.
Speaking in an interview with KTN on Monday, the former vice president did not mince his words, calling on the two to step aside as investigations continue.
"Now, here is the time for these individuals in whatever position they may have been holding to actually exit and allow the process to its full conclusion through the legal system to now take effect," Mudavadi said. (Video 11:04-11:30)
The ANC supremo said that the president had a keen understanding of the importance of the ministry, having himself served as finance minister and that he would act swiftly to find a replacement.
Mudavadi's intervention is bound to pile more pressure on the two suspects to step aside.
In a previous state of the nation address, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that Cabinet Secretaries implicated in graft and arraigned in court would have to step aside until they are cleared.
Rotich and Thuge among others were arraigned in court on Tuesday to face a raft of charges levelled against them in an indictment made by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji.
