A man in Kangemi, Nairobi County, has been charged for defiling a 15-year-old form one girl who was taking a shower before heading to school.
The 37-year-old Andrew Mackenzie is being accused of storming an outdoor bathroom where the schoolgirl was taking her shower on Thursday last week.
The prosecution told the court that the Mackenzie who is a married man left his wife in the house and followed the schoolgirl after seeing her heading to the bathroom.
He then covered the girl's mouth before defiling her.
“He used a towel to cover her mouth so she could not scream and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident,” the police said as quoted by the Star.
The schoolgirl told police that she then finished bathing and proceeded to school as usual after the man had threatened her.
"He told me that if I cry, he would do something strange to my body. He defiled me and left. I finished taking my bath and after that proceeded to school without telling anyone,’’ she told the police.
Police said it was the girl's teacher who realized she looked disturbed on that particular day before the matter was reported to the school principal who then invited the girl's mother to school before they took the matter to the police.
“She remained unfocused throughout the day. I suspected something might not be right. So I escalated the issue to the school principal,” her teacher told the police.
Mr Mackenzie was arrested and taken to Kabete police station, then later taken to court and charged. He, however, denied the charges when he appeared before Kibera senior principal magistrate Barbara Ojoo
He was handed Sh300, 000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be mentioned again on October 8 before the hearing on November 11.
