The ministry has listed different brands of second-hand cars to be auctioned, with the highest-rated brand going at Sh500,000.

The auction will be held at the General Service Unit (GSU) headquarters in Ruaraka.

In the Tuesday advert on local newspapers, the ministry said it will work hand in hand with its preferred auctioneer, the M/S Taifa, to sell their assets by public auction.

"The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National government in conjunction with the appointed auctioneers M/S Taifa auctioneers shall sell by public auction all the underlisted boarded vehicles and all disposable items," read part of the statement as quoted by the Star.

Listed car brands include two Toyota Land Cruiser pick-ups which will be auctioned at Sh110,00 and Sh125,000 with the most expensive one being the Z835 Land Rover Discovery which will be auctioned at Sh500,000.

Other assets listed for auction are sufurias, where 8 sets will go at Sh2,000, wall clock, microphones, tape measures, refrigerators, cameras, and their stands, microwaves among many other electronics.

Bidders for vehicles and vehicle shells will be required to pay a deposit of Sh10,000 which will then earn them a biding number to be used as a pass into the auction room.

The ministry has also set viewing date for the listed assets as from October 8 to 18.

Bidders who will emerge with the top bid will be required to pay at least 25 per cent of it and then clear the remaining 75 per cent within the following seven days, failure to which the assets will be disposed of.
