Speaking on Wednesday during the official opening of two ECD classrooms at Nakuru Primary school, constructed under the ward development kitty to a tune of Sh1.2 million each, area MCA Wilbur Onyango said every contractor should account for the job done.

The ECD centre that was started at the school in 2008 has had challenges of poor classrooms and lack of equipment.

The old classroom that was available was overwhelmed with 70 students, but with the two new classrooms the issue of congestion has been addressed.

Onyango said in order for electorates to realize value for their money, there is need for contractors to maintain high quality of service.

“Contractors should ensure they do professional job in regards to this ECD classrooms so that the value for money can be realized. What we want is quality work,” he said.

He vowed to ensure the refurbishment and equipping of all the ECD centres in the ward, and urged parents to support him so that all children in the area can access quality early childhood education in a better environment.

“Education should be empowered from the grassroots and that is why we are focusing on the ECD centres in our ward. With support of parents we shall be pushing to have 1 million shillings for the equipping of our ECD centres” he said.
